Outside of work, Charlie enjoys going to the gym and holidaying with family. She has a keen interest in psychology and is also a supporter of West Ham United.

Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali is an incoming NQ solicitor, qualifying in January 2026, with training focused on real estate finance, commercial property and residential property.

During his training at RFB, he gained substantial experience in real estate finance, advising on both development and investment transactions. He has been involved in the negotiation of facility agreements and key security documentation, and has led due diligence exercises across a range of development and income-producing assets. His recent experience includes acting on an £8 million development loan, a £3.9 million refinance and a £13 million development financing, each completed within demanding transactional timeframes.

Hasan combines strong technical drafting ability with a commercial understanding of lenders’ and borrowers’ objectives, enabling him to support clients through complex, time-sensitive transactions.

Sonny worked as a paralegal in the Commercial Litigation department at a law firm in Kent before joining a commercial firm on the Strand in London as part of the Real Estate Disputes team, where he co-authored an article published on the firm’s website. Sonny has a strong and longstanding interest in Corporate and Commercial Law, and joining RFB represented a natural progression aligned with those interests.

Outside of work, Sonny enjoys staying active through running and swimming, and values spending time with friends and family.

Mia Matthews is an Associate Solicitor based at the Richmond Office, specialising in all aspects of residential conveyancing, including the sale, purchase, and refinancing of high-value freehold and leasehold properties.

Mia initially qualified as a specialist lawyer in Residential Property through the CILEX route, before furthering her legal education by studying the SQE at the University of Law in Bloomsbury. She officially qualified as a Solicitor in August 2024.

Mia has extensive experience in all areas of residential property transactions, working with a diverse range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, investors, corporate clients, and first-time buyers. She is recognised for her thorough, client-focused approach, consistently delivering exceptional service and maintaining high standards throughout each transaction. Outside of work, Mia enjoys catching up with friends over a bottomless brunch, the occasional 5k run, and diving into a good fantasy novel.

Mariya Thomas

Mariya Thomas is a Senior Associate Solicitor based in the Richmond Office specialising in all aspects of residential conveyancing including sale and purchase and refinance of high-value freehold and leasehold properties. Mariya joined RFB Legal in January 2026 and has over 10 years of property experience.

Originally from Ukraine, Mariya moved to the UK 25 years ago. Before relocating, she graduated from Kyiv International University with a degree in International Law. Mariya later qualified at a top 100 law firm, having completed an LLB at the University of London, Birkbeck and the LPC at The College of Law (Moorgate).

Since qualifying, Mariya has worked in Central London, advising on all aspects of residential property transactions for a broad range of clients—from high-net-worth individuals, investment purchasers and corporate clients to first-time buyers. Mariya is known for a meticulous and personable approach, delivering consistently high standards of client care from start to finish.

She is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.

In her spare time, Mariya enjoys dining out, travelling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She also likes attending music concerts, the cinema and the theatre—and, when time allows, a good Netflix binge.

Yunus joined the firm in December 2025 and is a paralegal in the Property department.

Prior to joining RFB, Yunus developed extensive experience and knowledge across all aspects of property transactions, having worked as a paralegal for a number of years. In 2021, Yunus graduated from Brunel University with an LLB law degree. The following year, he completed his LPC at City St George’s, University of London.

Outside of work, Yunus enjoys travelling to new places and reading predominantly 20th-century American literature, historical fiction, westerns, and non-fiction works to supplement his knowledge on a certain time period.

He is a keen sportsman, and he regularly goes to the gym and plays football on the weekends. Yunus also has competed in a number of amateur boxing bouts and enjoys training when time permits.

John joined RFB as a partner in October 2025 as head of Corporate and Commercial team.

John is an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer, offering practical, proactive and cost effective advice to businesses of all types. His principal areas of work as a corporate lawyer include advising clients on buying and selling their businesses, business start-ups, fund raising, corporate structure and general corporate advisory work. He has undertaken M&A work for a variety of businesses and individuals, ranging from listed companies to smaller owner-managed businesses.

He has particular expertise in advising business owners in the healthcare, children’s nurseries, financial services, estate agency, manufacturing, logistics, facilities management, pharmaceutical and motor trade sectors.

In addition to undertaking corporate work, John is experienced in drafting commercial agreements, including shareholder agreements, articles of association, partnership and LLP agreements and joint venture agreements.

Prior to joining RFB, John held the position of Head of London for a top 60 law firm. The extensive management experience he gained in this role gave him a unique understanding of the practical, as well as the legal, issues and challenges faced by business owners

John lives, and was educated, in Surrey and studied at the London School of Economics.

He is a keen golfer, and enjoys going to the gym and watching his son’s Sunday football team.

Throughout her education, Katie played an active role in her community- singing in choirs, performing as a clarinettist in ensembles, attending musical theatre school, serving on the Student Wellbeing team during sixth form and taking on the role of Social Secretary for her university’s Volleyball club.

Beyond her legal career, Katie is passionate about travel. Having recently returned from a four-month adventure across South and Central America, she has grown fond of the Spanish language and is now working towards fluency by year’s end! When she is not in the office, Katie can often be found reading, at the gym, or knitting for loved ones with an excellent telenovela on in the background.

Before joining RFB, Esin graduated from the University of Surrey with a law degree and completed her LPC at the College of Law, Moorgate. Esin went on to complete her training contract with a firm in East London.
