John qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and has been a partner in the firm since 1990. John has a broad base of experience in the law with many longstanding client connections, and is a Recommended Lawyer in the 2019 Legal 500, singled out as ‘a real expert in the field who knows his game’.
He now specialises in property transactions and heads the Real Estate Department, which is building up connections in the retail, hotel, and leisure sectors. Praise from the Legal 500 in previous years has included ‘a poised and rational presence in the most difficult of situations, as having “excellent communication skills”, and being ‘very solid in his knowledge, and objective in his advice’ with ‘in-depth knowledge. The 2020 edition describes him as ‘a calm presence who knows how to mobilise large teams on high-value hotel transactions‘, ‘a calming influence and can coordinate large teams on the more complex matters‘, and ‘very approachable with an in depth understanding of the market‘.
He acts for clients in connection with commercial and investment property, property development, and financing as well as high value residential property and complex leasehold transactions. John is also the appointed person for the Conveyancing Quality Scheme, to which the firm was one of the first in London to be admitted.
John has been instrumental in securing significant panel accreditations. He also remains the lead contact for the firm’s bank work.
