Het opstellen van een testament stelt je in staat om controle te nemen over je landgoed en ervoor te zorgen dat bij je overlijden, je bezittingen overgaan in overeenstemming met je wensen. Het stelt je ook in staat om mensen te kiezen die je vertrouwt om je nalatenschap te beheren en om voogden aan te stellen voor minderjarige kinderen.

Testamenten can incorporate trusts to take effect after your death. Trusts may be needed to protect the interests of minor and vulnerable beneficiaries, to provide more flexibility as to how your estate is distributed, and to allow a partner to continue living at your home during your lifetime whilst ensuring that this zal ultimately pass in accordance with your wishes.

Het is belangrijk om je testament in de gaten te houden en te overwegen of er wijzigingen nodig zijn om veranderingen in je persoonlijke omstandigheden te weerspiegelen. Veranderingen in de wet kunnen ook van invloed zijn op wat u wilt doen in uw testament.
