International Family Law
We provide assistance on a wide variety of international family law issues, including providing advice to foreign nationals on how the legal system of England and Wales may apply to them.
An increasing number of families have links to more than one country, and children are now frequently moving from country to country as the structure of their family changes following a breakdown in a relationship. Our team have experience in representing parents who wish to move with their children from England (or Wales) to another country, or have a concern that a move initiated by the other parent is not in the best interest of the child.
There are also important factors to consider in relation to potential divorce proceedings. It may be that an individual owns assets in various countries, and/or may move between countries on a regular basis for work purposes. Our team will be able to advise upon whether this jurisdiction is the appropriate forum for any proceedings to take place, and if it is, the subsequent impact upon any assets owned overseas.
