Pre-settled and Settled Applications

What are Pre-settled and Settled Visa Applications?

The EU Settlement Scheme offers two main types of immigration status: Pre-settled Status and Settled Status. These are forms of Leave to Remain in the UK, granted to EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals. Family members are also eligible if they began living in the UK before 31 December 2020.

Before proceeding with your application, there are a few conditions and requirements you must meet.

Pre-settled Status:

  • You have not yet completed five years of continuous residence in the UK
  • You are allowed to stay in the UK for up to five years with full rights to live, work, study and access public services
  • You may be eligible to apply for Settled Status after completing five years of continuous residence

Settled Status:

  • You have not yet completed five years of continuous residence in the UK
  • Settled Status allows you to stay in the UK permanently
  • You will be entitled to additional benefits, such as eligibility for British Citizenship and broader access to public funds.

Pre-settled and Settled Visas

Navigating the EU Settlement Scheme can be complex, but our qualified immigration experts are here to help make the process simple and stress-free. We provide tailored advice and one-on-one support for individuals applying for Pre-settled of Settled Status, whether you’re applying for the first time or switching from Pre-settled to Settled, or need assistance for your extended family.

Pre-Settled Status

Pre-settled Status is available to individuals who have not yet completed five years of continuous residence in the UK. It allows them to stay in the UK for up to five years, with full rights to live, work, study, and access public services. Once they have completed five continuous years of residence, they may become eligible to apply for Settled Status.

Settled Status

Settled Status is granted to those who have lived in the UK continuously for five years or more, providing Indefinite Leave to Remain. This status enables individuals to stay in the UK permanently and offers additional benefits, such as eligibility for British citizenship and broader access to public funds.

Extended Family

The scheme also extends to family members and dependants, including spouses, children, and other eligible relatives of those who already hold Pre-settled or Settled Status. Family members may apply alongside the main applicant or join them at a later date, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Find out more about our family visa offerings hier.
