Faiza Raqeeb is an Associate Solicitor working at the firm’s Baker Street office.
She is part of the Litigation Team, recognised by the Legal 500 as being a “technically minded, very responsive and strategic team”.
Faiza joined the firm in 2019 working as a paralegal and studied the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law before commencing her training contract in 2021.
Faiza has gained extensive experience in a wide range of commercial and property litigation matters. Faiza works on a wide range of commercial matters, these include a variety of disputes including high-value commercial contract disputes, debt recovery, business and partnership disputes, and injunctions. Faiza also works on matters concerning breach of director’s duties, petitions for unfair prejudice, and equitable winding up.
Faiza’s specialisms in property litigation include dealing with various landlord and tenant matters including highly contested lease renewal proceedings under the 1954 Act and construction matters.
Outside of work, Faiza hosts and leads her own Radio show in the local community, specifically raising awareness on matters impacting ethnic minority communities and young women, and she is involved in various charity work.
Faiza is also fluent in Urdu and Pahari.
Expertise
- Successfully obtaining judgment for circa €2,000,000 in relation to an oral contract and successfully arguing estoppel by representation in a shareholder dispute. Reported – Markus Pedriks v Serge Grimaux [2021] EWHC 3448 (QB).
- Acted on behalf of a large number of Claimants in a group action against a high street bank involving complex claims of discrimination and breach of Council Regulation (EC) No 2271/96.
- Instructed in relation to the revesting of a UK property valued in excess of £2.5million to a dissolved SPV incorporated in the Isle of Man.
- Successfully acted on behalf of a high net worth individual in relation to a multi-million pound High Court dispute regarding the shareholding in several companies in the entertainment and leisure industry.
- Instructed in relation to a claim against a well-known national homebuilder, arising from significant defects in the construction and design of the client’s property. Faiza assisted in securing significant damages plus costs, including damages for blight and for loss of amenity.
- Instructed on a high-value dispute against a well-known trading firm and successfully securing significant damages.
- Instructed on a number of opposed and unopposed lease renewals.
