Afsheen is a Partner and heads our Manchester office and manages a large team specialising in Real Estate. She initially joined our London, West End office before returning to the North-West and opening our Manchester branch in June 2016.
Afsheen is a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer and is experienced in acting for first-time buyers and investors, as well as the more experienced investors, asset managers and portfolio landlords. She has many clients who are overseas investors and can advise on the sometimes complex nature of AML and ID requirements, to ensure regulatory compliance.
She can assist with a simple purchase of a vacant property or can help guide clients wishing to acquire a site and re-develop it. This can include converting an existing house into an HMO or flats, changing the use of a commercial building or developing new properties on vacant land. She can advise on the structure of the legal title and prepare leases for new build developments, acting for clients as purchasers initially and then as a seller, thereafter. In addition, Afsheen can advise on option agreements, whether entering into one directly with a landowner or dealing with an assignment of an option agreement.
Afsheen has worked on many large scale new build developments; more recently having acted for over 100 buyers of off-plan plots in a North-West development. She is able to manage the expectations of buyers, agents and developers to ensure timescales are met, which makes the conveyancing process seamless for all involved.
Afsheen also specialises in Real Estate Finance and understands the complex nature of Bridging Loans and Shariah Finance. She has experience in acting for both mainstream and bridging lenders as well as borrowers; with this insight, she is able to help navigate borrowers when dealing with a lender’s extensive requirements.
