Types of Family Visas 

We can assist you with Spouse/Partner Visas, Fiancé Visas, Parent Visas, Child Visas, Adult Dependent Relative Visas and Family Reunion Visas.   

Spousal Visa 

A Spousal Visa allows you to bring over your spouse to live and work in the UK for five years. After five years, they can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. 

You may be eligible to apply if: 

  • You hold a British Citizenship, Indefinite Leave to Remain, or refugee status.  
  • You earn at least £29,000 a year. If you do not meet this amount through income alone, you may be able to rely on savings to supplement your earnings. 
  • Your partner can speak English- They can prove this by doing an English Language test, having a University Degree that was taught in English, or being a citizen of a country where English is the main language.   
  • You are married or in a civil partnership  
  • You’re in a genuine relationship  
  • You have adequate accommodation in the United Kingdom.

Fiancé Visa 

A UK fiancé visa allows non-British partners to enter the UK for the purpose of getting married to their British or settled partner within six months. This visa is designed for couples who intend to live together in the UK after marriage.  

It is a type of family visa and is granted with the expectation that the couple will marry during the visa’s validity period. Once married, the applicant can then switch to a UK Spouse Visa, which provides a path to permanent settlement.  

You may be eligible to apply if: 

  • Both partners must be at least 18 years old.  
  • The sponsoring partner must be a British citizen or have settled status in the UK (e.g. indefinite leave to remain).  
  • The couple must have met in person.  
  • The relationship must be genuine, with the intention to marry within six months of arriving in the UK.  
  • The sponsor must meet the minimum income requirement of £29,000 per year.  
  • There must be adequate accommodation arranged for the couple in the UK.  
  • The applicant must meet the English language requirement.

Parent Visa 

A UK parent visa allows a non-British parent to live in the UK to care for their child who is either a British citizen or has settled status. This visa falls under the family visa category and is aimed at ensuring a child in the UK has access to parental care and support.   

The parent does not need to be married to the child’s other parent, but must demonstrate an active role in the child’s life and that living in the UK is in the best interest of the child.  

You may be eligible to apply if: 

  • You must be the parent of a child who is under 18 (or was under 18 when the parent first applied) and is living in the UK. 
  • The child must be a British citizen or have settled status (e.g. indefinite leave to remain).  
  • You must not be in a relationship with the child’s other parent (if they are, a partner/spouse visa may be more appropriate).  
  • You must have parental responsibility or be playing an active role in the child’s upbringing.  
  • You must demonstrate that they intend to continue their involvement in the child’s life.  
  • You must meet English language requirements.  
  • You must show they can support themselves financially without needing public funds.

Child Visa 

A UK child visa allows a non-British child to join one or both parents who are living in the UK. This visa is typically used when the child is dependent on their parent(s) and intends to live with them permanently in the UK. It falls under the family visa category and can lead to settlement, depending on the immigration status of the parent(s). The visa is usually granted to children under 18 who are not living an independent life.  

Who is eligible to apply? 

  • The child must be under 18 years old at the time of application.  
  • The child must not be married, in a civil partnership, or living independently.  
  • At least one parent must be living in the UK with British citizenship or settled status (e.g. indefinite leave to remain).

Adult Dependent Relative Visa 

An Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) visa allows elderly or severely ill non-British family members to join a close relative in the UK for long-term care.   

This visa is designed for situations where the applicant requires daily assistance with personal and medical needs and cannot receive adequate care in their home country. It provides a pathway to live permanently in the UK but is granted only under strict conditions due to its long-term implications on public resources.  

Who is eligible to apply?  

  • The applicant must be a parent, grandparent, sibling, or adult child of a British citizen or a person with settled status in the UK.  
  • The applicant must be aged 18 or over.  
  • The applicant must require long-term personal care due to illness, disability, or age-related conditions.  
  • Adequate care must not be available or affordable in the applicant’s home country.

Family Reunion Visa 

A Family Reunion visa allows immediate family members of individuals who have been granted asylum or humanitarian protection in the UK to join them and live together. This visa is designed to reunite families who were separated due to conflict, persecution, or displacement. It typically applies to spouses, civil partners, and children under 18 and is a vital route for rebuilding family life in safety after resettlement.  

Who is eligible to apply? 

  • The sponsor in the UK must have refugee status or humanitarian protection.  
  • The applicant must be the refugee’s spouse, civil partner, or child under 18 at the time the refugee left their country.  
  • The relationship must have existed before the sponsor fled their home country. 
  • The sponsor must be a British Citizen or settled in the UK, or a Refugee or hold humanitarian protection
