Ronald Fletcher Baker Solicitors, in conjunction with the Regulatory and Fraud Team at Doughty Street Chambers, are delighted to invite you a discussion on Export Controls on Conventional Arms and Dual Use Goods Within the European Union. Recent changes made to export control legislation in both Europe and the United States have given rise to a range of new issues and risks, and this event brings together those working in the industry, and the specialist lawyers who advise them, to discuss the impact of these changes.
Deniz Oguzkanli, Partner at Ronald Fletcher Baker, will introduce our distinguished guest speaker, Sune Danielsson, the former Head of Secretariat for the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls in Vienna, who will be speaking on issues involving the European regulatory framework. Siobhan Grey, barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, was recently involved in the case of Perkins heard at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) and will use that to illustrate the potential criminal consequences for (and sanctions against) those who fall foul of the recent amendments to EC Regulation 428/2009 and the classification of dual purpose goods. David Hayes, a well-known expert in this area, will speak on issues surrounding compliance for the industry when it comes to goods which may have military capability.
We aim to start the talks at 6.15pm, and they will be followed by some drinks, food, and an opportunity to network with colleagues from other firms.
